Offered since the 1990s, this course has gone through various transformations, in order to best meet student needs. Since Spring 2004, the course has been offered totally online. Quizzes are even open book online! In addition, in response to student and advisor requests for more information, the course has evolved from a one credit to a two credit course. We now offer readings in each module highlighting the impact that pharmacists have on society. In addition, this course only has three due dates, which means students can really work at their own pace!
What do students think?
This course hosts 200+ students per year with over 90% of the students being satisfied or very satisfied with the course. Here are some comments from past students:
- I thought the course was designed very nicely. It was very easy to follow along and the due dates were very clear. I could easily tell what I was expected to complete and didn't miss any assignments. The e-mail reminders were also helpful for keeping me on track.
- I honestly can't believe how much I learned throughout the course about different ways/settings in which pharmacists can practice and all of the opportunities to advance your education a pharmacist has after completing the PharmD. degree!
- It seemed that [the instructional staff] always wanted to make sure we were doing well by checking up on us and always accepting feedback. Great staff/faculty running the course!
